In very good condition. Stands 5" tall X 4 3/4" wide including handle. Eagle head to top of handle. 2 men's heads smoking cigars are looking over the top of a fence which has "Hot Rum" embossed on it. Below is a newsboy with papers that has the words "Fiat Lux" (let there be light) incised. A dog is next to the newsboys legs. Between the handle and the newsboy is a small marking, square in shape ( no lines). It is hard to make out but looks like a figure on a horse or maybe a goat, with the numbers 7 in the upper left corner, 8 in the upper right corner, 7 in the lower left corner and 6 in the lower right corner. In front of the newsboy is a man smoking a pipe and reaching into one of his pants pockets to get some change to buy a paper off of the newsboy. He is standing in front of a brick wall and appears to be standing in front of a fire hydrant without any outlets. Between that figure and the handle is a criminal being grabbed by a policeman with a billie club in his other hand. There is a little grime from time on this item and I will let someone more experienced with cleaning this type of item than me handle that. There is no chips, cracks or repairs. As photo shows there is some kind of discolorization to the handle, something appears to have gotten into the glaze. This mug is heavy, 1 pound 7.1 ounces. I am not sure of the material, but it is not fragile porcelain, it is either parian or ironstone.
