Book Grading PolicyBrand New - Is new and looks new. Never owned or read. Very Good (VG) - Shows some signs of wear and is no longer fresh. Attractive. Good (G) - The typical average used book with all pages present. Books with wobbly bindings, highlighting, cocked spine/spine roll, markings to inside of covers and/or fly leafs, torn or missing dust jackets, can fall into this category. Usually a book is in this category due to cover wear, not page defects. If there is markings to text - it's very minor. There will be no torn pages, water damage other than small water spots or stains to edges of the page. Overall a good book with typical wear from use. Fair (FR ) - Obviously well-worn and handled, a few pages maybe loose, but no text pages are missing. However, it may be without endpapers or a title page. There might be markings, but they do not interfere with readability. Poor (P) - All text is legible but may be soiled, and have loose and/or torn pages and have binding defects. Reading copies and binding copies fall into this category. + or - is used to describe a book that is better or worse than the grade given, but not good or bad enough for the next grade. Shopworn BooksA shopworn book is a new book that maybe wrinkled, soiled, worn, etc. from having been displayed in our store. 98% of the books we list as shopworn have cover wear only. This is usually due to the book repeatedly being removed and replaced on the shelf between other books. |
